I am pleased to be able to report that at a special session held by teleconference on the afternoon of Tuesday March 24th the ASLEF Executive Committee, on the recommendation of the negotiating team decided to accept the pay offer from London Underground. They also endorsed an agreement on Boxing Day working reached at Trains Functional Council.
Management have also accepted that further discussion on the other issues in our claim will happen when normal business resumes.
In normal circumstances ASLEF would have held a referendum of our members before accepting an offer, but I'm sure you will understand why this is was not possible.
I know that many people are rightly angered that this is being discussed at this time. But I also know that many of you have close family members who are facing huge financial hardship and uncertainty.
That is why we believe it was right to accept this pay only offer now and continue discussing the other issues in our claim in the future.
