98% Yes vote for strike at Acton Town.

ASLEF members at Acton Town, District line have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action in the dispute over the application of the SPAD policy. On a turnout of almost 79%, there were only two votes against to 84 in favour of strike action.

Your union has tried to resolve this issue by the appeals process and in direct meetings with senior management,

but so far they have refused to change their position. It is clear from other cases that they want to be able to pick and choose how they treat drivers based on favouritism and personal friendship rather than agreed policies and procedures.

If management are allowed to get away with undermining the agreed SPAD policy, then this will just be the first case of many. No drivers job is safe if managers can simply ignore agreements on a whim.

The ASLEF Executive Committee has decided to inform the Employee Relations Director of London Underground that unless this matter is resolved to our satisfaction by March 14th, we will be announcing dates for industrial action.

ASLEF is determined to stand up for every driver, no matter how long they have been in the grade. Every driver is entitled to be treated fairly and policies and procedures must be applied equitably and fairly to all.

If strike action is to be avoided, it is now up to management to sit down and resolve this dispute.
