LUL management not prepared to compromise in Central line dispute.

This morning ASLEF and the other union met with senior managers from LUL to try to find a solution to the dispute on the Central line.

Management have forcibly displaced drivers from depots at Hainault and Leytonstone, meaning that some will have to spend up to two hours extra  every day traveling to work.

There is no real business need to do this. Just yesterday the Central line cancelled trains because of driver shortages! Yet they are forcing qualified drivers to move and be retrained on other lines.

We tried again to find a solution this morning, including options that would incur no extra cost to the company, but they remain completely inflexible and unwilling to compromise.

Our members don't want to have to take strike action and we genuinely regret the disruption that will be caused. But once again LUL management seem determined to pick unnecessary fights instead of treating staff fairly, resolving problems and trying to find solutions.

ASLEF members will strike from 21.00 on Tue Feb 21st to 20.59 on Wed Feb 22nd.
