Parsons Green incident. Update from H&S reps.

As you will be aware the police have now confirmed that the incident at Parsons Green was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and are treating it as a terrorist incident. The latest information we have is that there was only one device on the incident train; (earlier reports had suggested two devices).

Investigations at what is now a crime scene are ongoing and extra police will be deployed across the network during this evening’s peak.

The police and other government agencies have advised LU that they have no reason to believe there is an immediate threat to the rest of the Underground.

The current threat level remains unchanged, although this is under continual review.

We would advise drivers to continue to be vigilant and report any suspicious items or behaviour. ASLEF Head Office has advised LU that we do not expect our drivers to open up and investigate any items that they deem to be suspicious.

We would also advise drivers to continue to be vigilant when changing ends at termini stations and follow the appropriate procedures when finding something suspicious. Please don’t take any chances, put your safety first.

We will be in touch with senior management throughout the evening and over the weekend and Head Office officials will continue to be informed of the latest developments.
